Naran

Naran is a somewhat mature young lady from Kennebunk(port?).  She thinks her property taxes are waaay too high.  Sure, Kennebunk(port?) is a nice place to live, very appealing, with good schools, and has high property values, but you’ve got to have something to complain about.

To her great credit, she was in favor of allowing gay marriage and is smart regarding issues relating to homosexuality. She is also a good moderator, from what I can tell. *

Probably the meanest thing I can say about her is that she has a tendency to use cutesy little catch phrases in her posts.  Things like referring to herself as “Miss Prunelope Pimstep, Auntie Mabel, Betsy Ross.”  There may be a completely hilarious context or backstory that I’m not familiar with, but my best current theory is that she uses this old-timey cutesy talk because the older men using the website find it erotic.

She must endeavor to be sexually appealing because the high taxes of Kennebunk(port?) have forced her towards a destructive life of prostitution.  It is through this lifestyle which she gained her tolerance of homosexuals.  In 1997 her “Madam,” a woman named Ms. Berrykins, invited her over for a few glasses of fine cabernet.  A summer storm knocked a tree down, blocking the the driveway to Ms. Berrykin’s home and preventing Naran from leaving.  Another bottle was opened, and after some awkward drunken foreplay Naran and Ms. Berrykins initiated their brief yet bitter affair. Their safe word was “Auntie Mabel.”

Although Naran never forgave Ms. Berrykins for leaving her two weeks later (for a young Italian carpenter named “Giorggio,” no less), she henceforth gained a respect for the strong feelings a person can have towards a member of the same gender.

Giorggio and Ms. Berrykins moved to Naples (the original one, in Italy), where they married, had three children and lived happily ever after until Giorggio became entangled in the feared Carpenter’s Mafia, which killed him after he accrued large debts on purchases of hardwood, 4 inch nails, and drywall.

*Once upon a time, when this website was young, fresh, and idealistic, I thought Naran was a pretty decent moderator. She seemed reserved and fair. But for whatever reason this has dramatically changed. She now spends nearly every waking hour policing every opinion presented on the site, metaphorically humping the Governor’s leg but only because she can’t get an appointment to hump it in person. Any opinion critical of anything the Governor does or supports is attacked vehemently. And, when there is a lull in the activity on AMG, she hits the Portland Press Herald and comments up to 60 times each day.

So I apologize. I was wrong. May whatever God you believe in forgive me. – AMGLOLZ on April 15, 2011.

Naran has a new hobby of almost gleefully sharing her neighbors’ misfortunes through her weekly installments of, “This Week’s Foreclosure Lists”

    http://www.asmainegoes.com/content/kennebunk-news-kennebunk-news?page=169#comment-608685

If I understand her purpose correctly, which is a bit of a challenge, she is somehow fighting the good fight against RSU 21′s plans for school upgrades by providing a venue for all to see, as easily as possible, which of their friends or neighbors are in forecloser. Nice!

Yes Naran, I know it’s information that is available to the public anyway, but making it even more accessible in order to add to your psychotic mil rate rants is insensitive at best or just plain fucked up. What a miserable, busybody bitch you are. I’m sure you wouldn’t want your dirty laundry aired out so publicly, but then again, your shit don’t stink, so I guess that would be impossible.

  2. Average Joe says:

And she of the ever-caring, sympathetic, don’t kick your fellow man when he’s down façade. Her true colors emerge here. To link her neighbors’ misfortunes to her desire to not increase her taxes is not just atrocious, but without foundation.

When a family loses its source(s) of income, does she really believe that paying $2,000 in property tax instead of $6,000 would make a difference? I don’t think she understands that when you’re trying to get blood from a stone, it doesn’t really matter how much blood is being demanded.

She should be ashamed of herself.

  3. PB says:

Is conspicuously absent from all post-election chatter on AMG & PPH sites….Possibly in a bunker with SKF & friends fine tuning spin?

  4. Average Joe says:

More likely clinging to her Allen’s.

  5. amglolz says:

Or carpal tunnel finally set in.

  6. zooeyg says:

No, tunnel-carpal is correct: or idiopathic neuropathy of the cranial nerve, a result of over-exposed and acute* self-expression to the exclusion of all other stimuli. Eventually, the tunnel like vision will see only the keyboard in front of her and the bottle of Allen’s to the immediate right, as her entire neural system begins to feed on itself.

    * or, in Naran’s case, a-cutsey self expression

  7. amglolz says:

    That’s funny.

Or maybe she is at the town office, triple checking every registered voter who participated yesterday to find the 1 fraudulent out of every five recorded votes that turned this result against her reality. Is Timmy from main street a real voter? Or a college student from Portsmouth sent to wreak havoc on our hapless state? Only a five star investigative journalist like Naran could ever hope to solve this riddle.

  8. Average Joe says:

Well, she finally woke up and had this to say: “Yesterday’s election results on Question One show that in Maine, sometimes “money from away” can buy just about anything.”

Anything, that is, except a “NO” vote on one. How deep is this chick’s denial? Will she change her tune when the out-of-state funding for all those “how dare you bring out-of-state funding to Maine elections, even if the funder lives here” spots.

Or does she really believe that four spots an hour for four days on every local station were funded solely from the $48,000 Yes on One claimed the day before the spots started?

If the Republicans really want to do campaign finance reform, I think I’ve found a place they can start.

  9. amglolz says:

Joe, it is IMPOSSIBLE that the issue won because voters liked it from the get go. Remember that Maine Heritage Policy Center poll showing Yes on 1 losing? How do you explain that flawless piece of exploration of the people’s opinions in light of the result? It is science, man!

Before you answer, please note that it is against the rules to cite any other poll because they all showed Yes on One winning the whole way. Those are liberal polls run by foreign pollsters from the Virgin Islands, or something. Definitely not Naran-approved. Only Naran approved polls and sources are allowed.

    Go!

  10. zooeyg says:

“Winning, anyone? Rhymes with winning. Anyone? Yeah, that would be us.

  11. Ruben says:

Well you have to excuse Prunelope. She got a smack down beating locally. Specifically on two referendum questions that she campaigned hard against with her usual distortion of facts and the sky is falling rhetoric. A quick peak at some of her sour grapes:
    http://www.asmainegoes.com/content/kennebunk-news-kennebunk-news?page=170#comment-610325

“I just don’t get it – with all the griping and foreclosures in this town, along with skyrocketing figures for food pantry and heating assistance requests, you’d think people could be a little more involved when it comes to voting on such issues. Maybe that’s just me…”

Yup, you guessed it, approving the school budget and other crucial town funding is going to 1. Raise poor Naran’s taxes (by at least a buck!); 2. Cause foreclosures; 3. Send the poor streaming out into the streets of Kennebunk with no food or heat!
Second of all, the majority of the “griping in this town” comes from one griper. You know who I’m talking about.
So please, have some mercy on our dear Auntie Mabel. She got her clock cleaned yesterday and is very upset at living in a town that votes to support it’s schools.
(But, damn it, unfortunately, she never gets pissed enough to move!)

  12. zooeyg says:

“Second of all, the majority of the “griping in this town” comes from one griper. You know who I’m talking about.

    Late stage Tunnel Carpal.

  13. amglolz says:

Right now, she is griping about the Portland Mayor’s race. The ballots are taking longer to count (Instant Runoff Voting) than expected. She doesn’t live here, but it is still seems important that we know her feelings about the new voting system those crazy whippersnappers designed up in Portland, how it isn’t at all like the ones from when she grew up in the good old days, and heaven forbid it is taking almost 24 hours for a final result.

If Portland had hired Auntie Mabel Technologies and Spoons, Inc., no doubt the first attempt would have been flawlessly executed.

  14. zooeyg says:

Are you kidding? She would have had those votes counted, ballots shredded and knitted into potholders by now – along with a fresh batch of complimentary chutney.

She spends an awful lot of time kvetching about Portland these days. Perhaps, as Ruben, pointed out, because she has been so unsuccessful in convincing her neighbors that they live in a fiscally apocalyptic landscape where everyone is elderly, starving, and out of heating oil.

Maybe she’ll have better luck with Portland residents. Ha.

  15. Ruben says:

    Portland, take my Naran, please!

  16. Average Joe says:

I mentioned earlier the number of posts she’s made on AMG, PPH, BDN using only Disqus to log in. So that may just be the tip of the iceberg. She has now started posting on the Forecaster website. The Forecaster! This woman is a posting machine!

Look for her comments coming soon to the Tulane Drama Review.

  17. PB says:

Whats the over/under on when the esteemed “journalist” posts this fine tidbit of professionalism on sensorship central

    http://ericrussell.bangordailynews.com/2011/12/05/gov-lepage-meets-with-democratic-rep-then-curses-him/

  18. amglolz says:

Not sure, but if it does come up my bet is that her response will be, “We have no proof he said that.”

  19. PB says:

It’s up there now but it wasnt posted by Naran. I am beginning to convince myself that most most of the posts/reply to posts are simply to mess with our heads here on AMGLOLZ….There is no other explanation for a majority of the “logic” over there

  20. PB says:

THIS IS HER REPLY….Too Funny…..The Patton reference made me want to throw up in my mouth….What would Patton think of Lepage’s visit to Canada during Vietnam era?

“Auntie Mabel does not approve, but then again, Auntie Mabel isn’t walking around in Gov. LePage’s brogans, either.

We didn’t send Mr. Rogers to Augusta – we sent “General Patton.”

If that’s the worst thing he ever does in his first four-year term, personally, I can live with the oath.”

  21. Average Joe says:

What tickles me is how the AMG sycophants, while defending our obscene, boorish governor, find it necessary to sanitize his language with asterisks. What bullsh*t!

  22. chris coose says:

“Sometimes its hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one man
    You’ll have bad times
    And he’ll have good times
Doing things that you don’t understand
But if you love him you’ll forgive him
Even though he’s hard to understand
    And if you love him
    Oh be proud of him
‘Cause after all he’s just a man
    Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
    Stand by your man
And tell the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
    Stand by your man
    Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
    Stand by your man”

Some’ll get a little hurl up in their mouth but a little tear comes to my eye. (as if I’d been teargassed)

  23. Ruben says:

Naran continues to exploit those less fortunate by harping about foreclosures and people not being able to pay their mortgages (as if she’s actually concerned about them) in her on-going crusade to get her taxes lowered by ten cents. In Naran’s world, passing school budgets equals foreclosures equals Armageddon etc…
    http://www.asmainegoes.com/content/kennebunk-news-kennebunk-news?page=170#comment-612859
“As I’ve posted in past weeks, there are numerous pre-foreclosure and actual foreclosure and auction listings online, for all three district towns. This may not be happy, or popular news, but it happens to be the truth.” (she states with glee!)

However, when the protestors in Portland start putting together a list of demands in regards to the city shifting some of their policies and bank partners in order to hopefully benefit many people, including those who are suffering foreclosures, missed mortgage payments, etc. what is her little, snide comment in the PPH?:
    Naran Row-Spaulding
“Somebody, please make sure to include a couple boxes of kleenex on that request list… and perhaps, several tiny violins.”

What a fucking hypocrite. And for God’s sake woman, you spell Kleenex with a capital “K” – you’re a boner fide journalist for God’s sakes!

  24. PB says:

CV43 is fixin to get himself (or herself) “run” anytime now by Miss Fair & Balanced….AMG-Dissenters need not apply

  25. zooeyg says:

    http://www.pressherald.com/news/LePage-For.html

Like the smell of a carrion flower in bloom, you just can’t mistake the frenzy of Naran-tivity on the Maine Today forums – good grief. She’s coming apart at the seams/ lipstick bleeding/fingers cracked and garments in need a good washing in Aunt Betsey’s lye soap. What the hell is going on over at the Homestead and why hasn’t Daddy Fish or anyone else pried the keyboard out of this woman’s hands already? Naran needs a non-imaginary intervention, from a flesh and blood friend or relative or even a remotely-concerned passer-by. Seriously, does anyone drop in to check on this woman from time to time?

  26. erin says:

Her rocker is rather unsteady these last few days; for a good few weeks, she was actually ‘liking’ many of my posts on PPH; this article, though, she brought out the claws. Insinuating that I ‘buy steak’ and ‘bulk chicken’ with EBT cards. I am almost prone to being concerned for her mental well being, given the manner in which she’s been posting on this particular article.

  27. zooeyg says:

I saw that exchange, as well – you handled it very gracefully. She really is the crazy lady on the bus, only in real life, the crazy lady gets out of the house now and again.

  28. amglolz says:

Poor people aren’t allowed to buy chicken anymore?

One thing I never see mentioned in the news is that it is possible for an EBT card to contain only child support payments from the other parent, which the state will collect on their behalf upon request. Presumably those monies could be used however the parent(s) wished without Naran’s pre-approval. Or maybe not? Who can tell when there is that much crazy anger?

  29. zooeyg says:

Poor people are welcome to go to the Kennebunk Food Shelter and grovel, of course. And to thank the good citizens of Madame’s “little band”. Quite frankly, nothing should be done without Naran’s approval. She alone knows who is “deserving”, and who is worthy of State beneficence. Usually it is folks who look, act, and speak just like…Herself!

  30. Tim Wright says:

This is so funny, that’s it’s almost like she sent AMGLOLZ a Christmas gift. From the “Bill Nemitz is Satan” thread:

…..So it would seem, Tom. Three days later, and the PPH Reader Comment Gestapo is still deleting any comments from me that are the least bit critical of Susan Cover, Diane Russell, the Olbermann “award” to Governor LePage, Vladacci,* or anything remotely connected to pro-conservative causes.

Maybe Nemitz is moonlighting as a moderator, for the Christmas money.
    lol”

Where do we begin? Thanks the gift, Church Lady!

  31. Average Joe says:

I was going to start a thread on this very quote entitled, “Poor, Poor, Naran.” Talk about selective memory. Amid all of the snarky, insulting, conservative rants of hers, among all the sycophantic defenses of the worst governor in Maine’s history, in the middle of her hundreds of posts, she has one deleted by the “Comment Gestapo.”

My goodness, what could that have been? She accused Bill Nemitz of writing under the influence. Called him a drunk, basically. Someone took offense and threw the flag, rightly so. It wasn’t me, by the way.

Of course, I could be wrong and may have missed all the deleted posts she claims to have suffered. Even if that’s true, there are still a ton of Naran’s “pro-conservative” posts left. Methinks the lady protests too much. Or maybe the term is “lies.”

  32. PB says:

The Press Herald charging for content beginning next month is the best news ever! Since Naran likes to tell us she is can barely make ends meet due to high K-Bunk taxes, surely she will be unable to pay the monthly subscription fee. It’ll be a whole different landscape without her chiming in 250 times a day

  33. chris coose says:

FLAMETHROWER has threaded some crap about defending liberalism

    http://www.asmainegoes.com/content/defending-liberalism

A couple of commenters mentioned they wished there were a few liberals around.
I logged in and mentioned they may want to querie the moderator as to which liberals are banned.
Naran returned quite quickly with a veiled denial.
I’d like to get back to the thread with some names. Help me out helping Naran to update the AMG banned liberal log here.

  34. Average Joe says:

It’s easy enough to check a suspected ejectee by finding an old post and clicking on their name. If no info comes up, they’re among the banned. In addition to moi, I can think of Tim Wright,, Lewiston Liberal, Gerald Weinand, Charlotte (maybe), and that’s about all I can think of now.

I knew they’d miss us. It really has become an echo chamber. Maybe Naran will issue a blanket dispensation to all the expats which will last only until someone calls LePage a douche nozzle.

  35. PB says:

Naran was quick to tout the Maine Wire in this beauty of a quote. “The Maine Wire is a welcome media institution – with great writers and information”

    http://www.downeast.com/the-tipping-point/2012/january/employee-history-statements

Ya great writers and even greater vetting process….Will Auntie post anything about this as quickly as she championed the arrival of the Wire?

  36. erin says:

Their ‘editor’ (Leif Parsell) just got fired by MHPC for being a racist. PPH hasn’t sniffed a bit of this, but I’ve seen it elsewhere on the tubes:

    http://www.dirigoblue.com/2012/01/meta/

  37. Average Joe says:

Melvin Udall (whom we all know, love and trust completely) indicated that absolutley no liberals had been banned from AMG. Right.

I forgot that the status check I described above only works for registered (and blessed) AMG members. So, Chris, it’s up to you to do the detective work.

  38. Average Joe says:

PB, believe it or not, Naran did post a follow-up very quickly and complimented the MHPC for their quick and decisive action. Good for her and for the MHPC. Thought I’d never say that…especially both of them in the same sentence, no less.

  39. amglolz says:

Yay for anonymous bloggers and boo for white supremacists.

And we can add Downeast Magazine to the list of websites Naran monitors and comments on, 24 hours a day. I’m beginning to think there is an artificial intelligence behind the scenes: N. A. R. A. N.

Nitpicky Artificial Response and Argumentation Natural language processing.

How else could one explain the time spent actively on the internet by something calling itself Naran but without any moments of quietness- for instance, when most of us might be offline bathing, eating, or having a bit of inter-huma socialization? N. A. R. A. N. doesn’t need sleep.

  40. Average Joe says:

Nary A Reasonable Answer Nowhere (OK, that was a stretch)

  41. zooeyg says:

hmmm, I was thinking a strain of human milfoil – but you’re right it could be a program language project taken on by one of the MHPC summer interns ( a bright enough kid with a fetish for spinster aunts).

  42. amglolz says:

I think that even milfoil has a dormant period…

  43. Average Joe says:

    …and it can be removed.

  44. Joe Mama says:

Naran is a buffoon and a nincompoop who believes that the world would be an ideal place if there were no diversity. She believes that life in an echo chamber provides interesting discussion.

The site has gone from bad to worse and the only reason I even bother looking at it is that I live too far away from railroad tracks to see any other kind of train wreck.

  45. pb says:

I owe Naran an apology…she did post the story….In other news; will “The Wire” hire Mike Pajek as a guest columnist on a per diem basis until the position is filled?

  46. Average Joe says:

Her latest gem: “I wish I had ten bucks for every time someone has written “there’s no welfare fraud in Maine!” on other sites.”

I think Naran’s net worth would increase very little. Has anybody really said that? I don’t know anybody, liberal or otherwise, who doesn’t believe that welfare fraud exists. The difference is that non-right-wing-nutjobs want to see welfare fraud eliminated. Naran and her buddies want to see welfare eliminated.

  47. zooeyg says:

No one has ever said it – she’s a twit and projects her own black and white no-room-for-complexity views on everyone else. No one could say it, with a straight face, when our current Speaker of the House himself has proven otherwise. Not even the gasbag from one of the Kennebunks.

  48. Average Joe says:

Uh, oh, CV43 is taking Naran to task just as I did above and as I would have if she hadn’t banned me for criticizing her idol LePage.

Chris Coose, you may be able to add CV43 to your list in short order…he’s on thin ice with the ice princess.

  49. Tim Wright says:

Yeah, read her latest post in the latest fraud thread. Church Lady Angry!

  50. Average Joe says:

What a dingleberry. If I were allowed to post on AMG I would say, “I’d like to have $10 for every time Naran has demanded that someone post links to back up their facts. I know I would be much richer than Naran looking for people who claim there is absolutely NO welfare fraud. Much richer.”

CV43 is way too civil, logical, and balanced. He can’t last long.
