Some AMGers have noticed a decline in “quality” on AMG.
I can’t provide any objective assessment, but I can absolutely say that I’ve been giving some thought to a hiatus from AMG. Frankly, I’m tired of and bored by what I view as a hijack of the site by a tiny number of very vocal, my-way-or-the-highway Ron Paul freaks.
With the invasion of the newly minted Ronulans, the quality of discussion on AMG has declined. Many of the newcomers lack manners, introspection, and depth. They’re like eighth-graders who read one book and think they learned the secrets of the universe.
They can blame the Ron Paul fans but let me be honest: that kind of person has always been there. Not necessarily as a Paul supporter, but ideologically present nonetheless.
The difference between before and now is that there is literally no regular poster left anymore who disagrees with establishment Republicanism in any significant way, other than the occasional Paul fan. Everyone else has been banned or harassed into observer status. Paul fans are the only dissent, so you notice them more. Anyone else who might, you know, post something other than “ditto” is long gone.
Because of this, The Editor hints at a big announcement.
It has been a long time since AMG’s Editor has written about the spirit of AMG, it’s mission. Maybe it’s time. A few of the comments here from AMGers I respect very much tell that it is time.

My prediction: some statement of grand principle but no real change.
He would have to open registration for any real change to occur.
Fat chance of that. Auntie Mabel would swoon into a dead faint and need the overpaid services of the Kennebunk(port) Rescue to save her sorry butt.
Of course no one will say what really needs to be said. Naran, as a moderator, conveniently ignores the rules. So you wind up with posters like Tom C and Melvin Udall who can go on bashing and belittling other posters as they chose.
If you were to call out Little Miss Muffet you’d certainly draw a ban.
And who is this Three Pipe Problem person? Another one of Narans little buddies thats been allowed an anonymous posting identity?
I saw a rather funny comment about her in the Kennebunk Post; the nickname given to her was ‘Wizard of West Kennebunk’; she was harping about how the farmer’s market is using public space for peddling their wares that the town purchased, and griping about how the market doesn’t pay a penny in tax revenue to set up shop there.
I often wonder if there is *anything* that woman doesn’t complain about.
Its time for them to let me back on.

Uh-oh, he’s really stepped in it now. And yet another voice of reason fades into the darkness.
The Narantula’s icy reply: “Mid-Coast — do you make a habit of insulting your hosts when you visit people in person? I’m sure you’re really popular, if that’s the case” is particularly amusing. The woman’s lack of self-awareness—and lack of understanding what the world outside the AMG bubble really thinks of her–is astounding.
Alas, Mid-Coast Mainer is indeed toast.
Not toast yet, but the heat has been turned on. Did receive a pm from Scott, given that it was a pm, I won’t disclose the message but he made some requests that I am not likely to comply with. Soon to be toast, perhaps.

I got booted, I think, for quoting amglolz on AMG. Not acceptable. I’ve never written to thank amglolz, but I intend to.
It appears that I have been banished. Can’t log on. Diversity is a wonderful thing as long as everyone is in agreement.
MCM–welcome to the Land of the Banished! Can’t say any of us here are surprised, considering your challenges to The Narantula’s Iron Fisted-Rule. You did get in some pretty good shots before you got the boot–congratulations!
PS Now how are you going to get the money you’re going to get owed on the election results?
The money was going to go to support AMG. So, although I am confident that I had little at risk, I don;t know if I can submit cash to the site without being a member. The surprising this is that nobody wanted to take the challenge on the Summers or Courtney race. I am sure that the campaigns took note that the true believers were not willing to risk $25.00.
Scott demanded that I apologize to Naran and to correct the statement that the web traffic at AMG is down. I did not see the need to do either. She is a shrew.
