Melvin Udall is one of the most consistently obtuse AMGers. He always sees terrible conspiracies and meanings in the smallest things. His most recent hangup is that when he watched the Democratic National Convention he saw President Obama walk out on stage clapping.

I don’t know if Obama actually clapped. I don’t really care. But let’s take Melvin at his word:

Did you ever work for a leader who clapped for himself when he walked into a room?

“The dignity of the office.” Got it.

Maybe Obama was clapping for the crowd? For the thousands of Americans donating their time to be delegates in our political process? Just a thought, Melvin.

I will give a special AMGLOLZ mention to anyone who can find video of a GOP politician clapping as he/she walks out on stage to give a speech. It must have happened before in our grand Republic, seeing as it is about as benign as a vanilla cupcake.
