I was notified of this thread by an intrepid reader. It is from a couple weeks ago, but it’s already a classic.

The premise is that Tom C, the thread’s author, will conclusively prove to you, the reader, that President Obama is a wuss. Not manly. How? With cherry-picked photos.

A “proof” in logical, philosophical, or mathematical terms is a formulaic description wherein, if you accept the premise or evidence (in this case, those would be the photographs) and apply logical rules and previously known laws to them, you can get to something that is 100% true, a rule of some kind.

A “proof” in Tom C’s world means that despite being a middle aged man he likes to giggle at pictures of people and imagine he could beat them up.

The first photo was Obama eating an ice cream cone. Obviously, Obama isn’t manly because of the way he pursed his lips while eating it. Obviously.

Riiight. Tom, if you’re reading, please send me a picture of yourself eating an ice cream cone in a manly manner. I’m trying to imagine how this would appear, but I can’t. Would Tom hold the ice cream cone in one hand while giving the camera the middle finger with the other?

Or maybe he throws the ice cream cone up in the air, shoots it with a rapid-fire automatic weapon of some kind, and then catches all the now super-hot pieces of ice cream bits in his mouth as they fall from the earth?

Another picture of Obama not being manly is one where he is attempting to hold an umbrella over his wife while walking through a gate. Really? That’s unmanly? I guess this might explain why Obama has been happily married for decades to one woman, in his first and only marriage, while Tom C is a divorced dad struggling to maintain his desired level of visitation and fending off restraining orders. Just sayin’.

In Tom’s last post he attributes a quote to Obama that would be bad if Obama had actually said it, but of course he didn’t. And of course our intrepid moderator you-know-who has not raised any questions about that inaccuracy, but whatever. What is amazing is that not only did Obama not say the quote, but it isn’t even one that Obama has been accused of saying by other right-wingers. It is a Tom C original. I’m serious. Put the quote in quotes, add the word Obama after the quote, and Google it.

You get one result, the AMG comment Tom posted.

Then, correct Tom’s misspelling and you still get only one Google result, which is different but still doesn’t contain a quote from Obama as Tom wrote it.

So on nearly every level this thread is a failure… I say “nearly”  every level because it is at least earns a slight chuckle and an eye roll, which is, after all, the supreme mission of AMG.

  1. spindle789 says:

“Well, you guys certainly put the lolz into asmainegoeslolz.”

Indeed they do, and you make it easy.

  2. Tom C says:

    Oh, brother.

  3. jimvisanidiot says:

That’s my thought exactly when I read the asinine garbage you post on AMG. Another thought I have is why do intelligent folk like AJ get banned for life when morons like you get sent to the cooler only to return spouting the same old crap that got you spanked in the first place?

  4. Average Joe says:

Thanks, jimvisanidiot, but I consider it more like Ol’ Lonesome George Gobels might — AMG sees itself as a tuxedo and me as a pair of brown shoes. Boy, does that date me!

By the way, AMG is no tuxedo.

  5. jimvisanidiot says:

    More like a clown suit.

  6. jimvisanidiot says:

Ooooh, it is not just Tom C that reads amglolz. Perhaps Melvin Udall (real name: Pembroke Schaeffer for those who don’t know) does as well. Hi, Pemmy! May you suffer the same fate as Pajak and lose your job with the gubmint.

  7. Average Joe says:

What does Pemmy do for the gubmint?

  8. jimvisanidiot says:

He was on LePage’s transition team. Not sure if that still exists or not.

  9. Average Joe says:

Oh, good. Reading AMG tells me that all those with government or government funded jobs are selfishly suckling at the public teat. I wouldn’t want to think that Melvin Udall would be among those low lifes.

If he is, he should head up the DISS — Department of Insults, Sarcasm, and Cynicism.

  10. Tim Wright says:

Here’s the story of little Pemmy Schaeffer, a.k.a “Melvin Udall,”from the November 26, 2010 edition of the Brunswick Times Wretched:

“Schaeffer, a retired defense industry engineer who regularly makes his case against government spending at Brunswick Town Council meetings and on The Times Record’s editorial page, was named to LePage’s transition advisory team…….Schaeffer spent nearly 40 years working for Hughes Aircraft Co., a company that, among other defense industry work, designed and built electronic systems for ships built at Bath Iron Works. Raytheon Corp. bought Hughes in 1998. He also spent several years working for Lockheed Martin Corp., which was teaming with BIW to build the initial stages of what is now the DDG-1000 destroyer.”

He helped the LePage transition team, alright. From bad to worse.

  11. Flea says:

Real men do not use umbrellas, rain is afraid to hit them. And they don’t eat ice cream, they make ice scream. Problem solved.

  12. Flea says:

Now to the more pressing question. How does one do THIS http://www.dallasvoice.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Perry.Rick_.jpg
in a manly fashion?? The Cumberland Fair is just around the corner and I need advice.

  13. Bespoke says:

The transition team was a volunteer, unpaid program. The state only gives new governors $5,000 for expenses, and that doesn’t cover any cost for staff. The transition team was disbanded months ago. That’s the meaning of ‘transition’ – it doesn’t last forever.

As far as anybody knows, melvin udall is NOT working for the Maine government in any other capacity.

  14. jimvisanidiot says:

You mean Pembroke Schaeffer, don’t you? I don’t care what he does now as long as he is exposed for the condescending, self-righteous, bigoted, arrogant thug that he is.

  15. tomcisanidiot says:

I love this post from CV43 and can’t wait to see Tom’s response, complete with links from “sources” like World Nut Daily:

Tom C writes: “It amazes me that people come up with these hare-brained ideas and don’t think them through.”

That’s exactly what I was thinking after reading your post. Why should we deny “rights and benefits” to a polygamous family, brother and sister, or parent child? Do you mean something beyond the fact that these sort of relationships are actually illegal? Same sex relationships are not illegal. Unless you have some evidence (baseless fear doesn’t count) that states are on the verge legislating your tired hypothetical into law, I’m not exactly sure what your point is.

Tom, if you are still following this thread on amglolz (and I think you are because you just can’t help yourself), please see a douche bag specialist. You are seriously in need of help.

  16. Tom C says:

Laughable. CV’s argument was lame, like you, and if he tries to follow through with it I’ll eat his lunch.

“please see a douche bag specialist.”

Why? Were you going to recommend yours?

    lol(z)!

  17. tomcisanidiot says:

    Dear Tom C,

    Thanks for playing.

    Love,
    tometc.

  18. erin says:

Tom, it’s rude to eat other peoples’ lunches; I would hope that you’d ask permission first.

  19. tomcisanidiot says:

I have a feeling Tom only eats box lunches at rest stops.

  20. tomcisanidiot says:

I’d say CV43 ate Tom C’s lunch here:

“There has to be support if you’re to believe the “slippery-slope” argument raised by Tom C. Essentially, if we legalize same sex marriage, what prevents us from applying the same arguments to support such a move to things such as marriage between siblings, parents and their children, pet owners and their pets, etc? The answer, of course, is that there is no way that any lawmaking institution in our society would legalize such arrangements. Basically, if we legalize same sex marriage, Tom C’s nightmare scenario is not going to just happen because we’ve opened the door (though that seems to be the fear). I’m simply asking for some indication from Tom C, or you if you support his point of view, that the slippery slope argument has real legs. It’s too easy to just throw out inflammatory statements.”

Though I strongly suspect Tom fantasizes about CV43 eating his lunch in the metaphorical sense.

  21. Average Joe says:

If gay marriage passes, can it be too long before eating shit sandwiches is legalized? Tom C’s “argument” is specious, flawed, and invalid. The poster who honors CV43 Coral Sea is absolutely right and has schooled Tom C who, I’m afraid, has no capacity to learn.

Unless, of course, he enjoys eating shit sandwiches. But he probably doesn’t like bread.

  22. amglolz says:

Tom C for the win with the slippery slope logical fallacy. He shoots, he scores.

  23. Tom C says:

Laughable. I showed where the polygamous movement is making progress, and that polygamous families WEREN’T living against the law.

I’ll bet CV spent HOURS trying to come up with that “legal” argument that I destroyed in five seconds.

He’s in denial about getting his clock cleaned!

Like all liberals, all CV does is flail around, and makes stuff up. .

Of course, though, you think he’s somehow “winning”!

    The “Charlie Sheen” mentality!

But then, you’re liberals. You think based on YOUR brilliant strategy that the Democrats pulled off a stunning victory against LePage in 2010!

    ——————

Oh, by theway, tomcisa liar, or whoever.. I went to your specialist that you mentioned before.

He said I was OK, and didn’t need to see him.

He was worried that you’d missed your last few appointments, though!

    lol(z)!

  24. amglolz says:

How polygamists are faring has as much to do with gay marriage as does the ups and downs of the AL wild card race.

Is there even one country in the entire world that recognizes gay marriages AND polygamous marriages? Anywhere? And yet you are arguing they are linked?

  25. Tom C says:

    Hmmm… the old non-sequiter.

Well, amglolz, I guess your plan is: If you can’t blind ‘em with brilliance, baffle ‘em with baloney!

  26. Average Joe says:

Look, Tom C, just give evidence of the link — the lack of that evidence is the non-sequitor here.

  27. Tim Wright says:

Dear God, Tom. You post more than anyone, by far, on AMG and here. Other than make moronic statements on the internet, what is it you actually do?

  28. tomcisanidiot says:

Tom C is now posting on AMG with the same tone he uses here! His latest rant there is filled with “lols” and childish swipes, appropriate here, but I thought AMG was where serious people got “real” news not found in the “lame-stream media”. I have also noticed that he posts prolifically, and at all hours (I am in a time zone that is 8 hours ahead of Brunswick).

Tom, between commenting here, there and everywhere, eating shit sandwiches, and masturbating over gay porn, how do find the time to sleep, much less hold down a job?

  29. amglolz says:

    Translation of Tom’s last post:

Not only is my gay marriage equals polygamous marriage argument a slippery slope argument, it is the worst kind: one that I cannot link through ANY historical evidence. Therefore, I will babble about non sequitur as if I understood the meaning, which apparently I do not.

  30. tomcisgay says:

Masturbating over gay porn? Is Tom C gay?

  31. chris coose says:

There are a number of arguments against gay marriage that have been shunned by even the staunchest opponents. Polygamy, beastality, biblical reference, the break down of hetero marriage etc. There ain’t much left.
Notice nobody at AMG has got Tom’s back.

We should be allowing Tom all the rope he needs to remind us and everybody else this new drive ought to succeed.

  32. tomcistoast says:

We are giving him more than enough rope to hang himself. The noose will tighten as he continues to flail.

  33. Tom C says:

    Gee,

5 guys taking wild swips at me here – and missing every time.

    lol.

And, they are apparently dreaming about my sex life as well! But, supposedly I’M the obsessed one.

    You guys are a hoot.

  34. tomcisdelusional says:

No Tom, the “swips” are right on the mark. You just don’t get it do you? The fact that you actually take the time to come here and play shows that you have a deep-seated obsession and you just can’t help yourself. If you didn’t show up, this thread would have died a long time ago. Just accept that you’re seen as a douche bag by everyone here, and most on AMG (and I’m quite sure there are many lurkers from there giggling over what a fool you’re making of yourself), and move on.

  35. Tim Wright says:

Since I know you’ll be reading this, Tom, I again ask: What is it you actually do?

  36. spindle789 says:

    @tomcisdelusional

You don’t speak for me! I don’t think TomC is a douche bag. I’d describe him as more of a douchenozzle.

I think he keeps coming back because of a need for attention. He gets it at As Maine Blows, and he gets it here. It doesn’t have to be positive attention, just any attention. He’s got an ego to feed, after all.

  37. Tom C says:

Well, let’s see – eighty-something posts here – most NOT from me.

But, no, I’m the obsessed one!

    lol!

“If you didn’t show up, this thread would have died a long time ago.”

    That’s terrific. That’s amazing.

That from the brain trust that took 19 percent in the last election.

    You folks must be brilliant!

So, it’s MY fault you folks have a man-crush on me – and have to jump in and post your childish foul-mouth insults after I say something!

Let’s try this – this thread would have died if you lightweights weren’t obsessed with ME!

Anyway, it doesn’t take me long to respond to your childish, lame posts. Unlike you, who spend hours – or days – coming up with such well-thought out positions like asking me about the legal aspect of polygamy, which I take all of 5 seconds to dissemble!

Anyway, please, let’s hear more brilliant retorts from the foul-mouth cretin crowd that makes up the loony left at amglolz!

For goodness sake, read your stuff. You people are thugs and bullies, plain and simple. You are foul-mouth cretins.

God forbid I should call you thugs out for what you are. You WISH I’d just let you make your lame insults.

And then you are convinced you are “winning”!

I’ve shown you up to be the little cretins that you are.

    Lol(z)!

  38. spindle789 says:

    I just laughed so hard.

  39. Tim Wright says:

I guess I got my answer.

  40. Average Joe says:

Wow, I guess I’ve been put in my place.

But I’m still wondering what the societal or legislative link might exist between gay marriage and polygamy or other “alternative” marriages, such as with Chris Coose’s parakeet.

But we’ll never know, will we? Because instead of actually answering the question, Tom C would prefer simply say he has “destroyed” the questioner and claim victory. Now that’s definitely “winning,” Charlie Sheen style.

I feel amglolz is more like Ashton Kuchner.

  41. amglolz says:

“I feel amglolz is more like Ashton Kuchner.”

When my wife is not telling me how much stronger our marriage is because men can’t marry parakeets, she is telling me that.

  42. erin says:

Tom, I would like to clarify for the record that I am not a man, and haven’t a smidge of a crush on you, but you are rather entertaining in your own batshit-crazy-homophopic sorta way.

  43. tomcisbatshitcrazy says:

    What she said.

  44. Tom C says:

Well, if you really want to figure out just who is obsessed, mentally and emotionally challenged, has nothing to do, is the feminine hygene product, etc, it is very simple.

All you have to do is count up the number of times that various people have posted to this thread.

Here’s a quick tally, (within a few,) of the gold, silver and bronze medals:

    amglolz (18)
    Average Joe (18)
    various somebodyissomething (18)

    It’s a tie!

Anyway, I don’t seem to be even in the top three!

That’s just this thread, by the way.

So, Tim, spindle, etc. I guess that answers your questions.

(I love arguing with liberals. They never think anything through.)

    lolz!

  45. tomcissleepdeprived says:

OMG, I can’t believe you actually counted. Get some rest, Tom. It’s past midnight. Maybe some sleep with help calm your OCD.

  46. varioussomebodyissomething says:

    amglolz (18)
    Average Joe (18)
    various somebodyissomething (18)

Well, I just hope you are having as much fun as we are, in spite of your relatively low responses. I’m not going to do a word count, but I’m willing to bet you would certainly be the winner there.

  47. Average Joe says:

Try thinking this through, Tom: you’re last on the list of those actually responding to questions instead of just prancing around and screaming, “I won, I won!”

  48. amglolz says:

On the bright side, by Tom’s methodology we are all waaaay better than Naran.

  49. spindle789 says:

That’s really setting the bar low.

  50. Tim Wright says:

This is from the Reverend Bob killed himself thread. This is Tom C. at his best:

“Incest and sodomy are Maine’s dark little secret.”

    Please, Tom, tell us more!
