Thank you

I want to thank all the readers and commenters.

When I started this site is was just a place to rant. I never particular advertised it nor expected much attention.

But of late I am impressed with the hits I am getting and the willingness of people to comment. I feel like I can leave the site for a week and interesting stuff still happens.

The rolling, thirty day counter of unique visitors is over 2,700 people. Being the internet, the actual count once you deduct spam-bots and random people from away is much lower. But a non-scientific extrapolation of IP addresses from the New England area suggests to me that over half that count are real readers.

As time goes on the site has built up quite a bit of content, which allows people to comb through posts and comments going back more than a year.

It is not uncommon to have over 20 people on the site at any one time.

Last year, I rarely had more than five.

So thank you for reading! I enjoy the outlet to rant and I love reading comments.

I can’t remember how or when I discovered AMGLOLZ; I like to think that at least I was an “early adopter.” As I’ve explained before on this site, I was a poster on AMG for some time before I gave up in the face of their unremitting, irredeemable hatred, smugness, willful ignorance, denial of facts waved in their face, and so on. To see these nasty people held up to scorn and ridicule was a thing of beauty and delight.

There were a few times when the lapses between your posts were so lengthy that I feared you had, like many bloggers, exhausted your material and enthusiasm and gone away. Still, I kept checking each day, and I was always glad when you came back with a gem of observation regarding the follies of the AMGers. I’ve also come to see that, whoever you are (and of course I have some curiosity about that — “Sam”), your insights into the election results for example demonstrated that you are a more committed and astute political analyst than, say, me (or, say, Naran).

So, I would like to thank you, not only for the entertainment (and you can be wicked funny) but for the enlightenment. I also read every comment, and they are almost all entertaining and enlightening.

If this epic of ass-kissing entitles me to one small suggestion, it is (and this was mentioned in a recent comment by someone else) that it might be neat if your devoted readers could initiate threads.

Now I suspect that your initial reaction to this will be along the lines of: “Sure, now I have to monitor the new threads to keep me from getting sued.” But hey, LOLZ, I have the solution for that!

    I can be your Naran.

Makes you feel tingly all over, doesn’t it?

Gully you do appear to have all those nice suck up, brown nose, blind loyalty characteristics that are required to moderate a focused forum and create hundreds of passive/aggresive reactions on the PPH comment pages daily but are you a journalist?

If LOLZ vets like the Governor, I think you gutys should be in contract negotiations. (Have you ever had a friend in a union?)

LOLZ, Naran is getting recognition for her day job @AMG. I’d think that translates pretty directly to this place. I think you’ll see continued exponential growth.
Thanks for creating this thing. It’s a swell place for us in self-imposed or forced exile but more importantly brings some necessary balance to the radical energy created by the AMG group. The Distributist being a good example.

Speculate where Naran will end up in state government? She is carrying an ocean of heavily polluted sewer water that she perpetually hopes will become crystal clear and holy. It is sad in a special kind of way. You up for that alchemist kinda work Gully?

Um, since you put it that way. . . .

    No.

I have to say thanks, as well, for getting me through the withdrawal caused by my summary dismissal by Naran for, I believe, either the sin of quoting amglolz or criticizing Governor LePage. I’ve come to realize that I shouldn’t be ashamed of being kicked out of a club that I was ashamed to claim membership in. Really, when viewing AMG on my iPad, I would take pains so that my seat mate wouldn’t see what I was looking at for fear they would think I was one of “them.”

But I must admit I’d like to set the record straight on AMG when Roger Ek claims Obama’s birth hospital didn’t exist in 1961. It did, and I can prove it. But it doesn’t matter because they would still not believe it.

I also enjoy your logic-riddled observations on the perversity that passes as “political debate” that we currently see poisoning our daily dialogue in this state/country. On an unrelated note, I really wish I had NOT been watching Nick Jr. when establishing a screen name, I believe I may have saddled myself with a knee-jerk and slightly ridiculous moniker. Cloying, parent-less cartoon rabbits are not deserving of my hate and I apologize. Can I start over? Anyway, keep up the good work and continue to call attention to b.s. when you see it.

You should not be surprised to have a growing following. Good writing attracts good readers, and we have a tendency to share with our good reading friends.

I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog, and I look forward to continuing for as long as you continue to do it.

@IH8: if you really would like another name, please let me know and I can transfer all your coimments to a new username.

Gully and AJ: both of you have been given Author powers which should let you author and edit your own posts. I have no problem sharing this power with regulars. I admit I don’t post regularly enough.
